Easy integration

Integration is one of the cornerstones of Prima’s FlexAir® access control system. Integration is a necessity if you want to satisfy user needs now and in the future. FlexAir® is designed with open standards at all levels and is ready to be integrated into or expand existing systems. This principle applies to all components from Prima – everything from RF-ID Nexus readers to Alpha centrals. Prima highly focuses on user needs, innovation and system development, which means that the integration capabilities of our system are numerous and cover many different aspects.

  • Integration

FlexAir®’s open platform offers many types of integration. The system can be integrated with Alarm, Video, Time & Attendance, Home automation, Elevator, Parking and third party software. In addition, the system is compatible with languages such as XML and Python, whereas XML makes it possible to transfer data from other software types directly to Nova software. The XML language (Extensible Markup Language) is mainly used to store data and is independent of software and hardware.

  • 3rd party integration

FlexAir® is based on an open platform, which means that it can be used with third party software. For example, you can use XML to transfer Excel spreadsheets directly to the Nova software, which is very useful when creating users and their access, access tags and cards. Excel spreadsheets can be used to transfer large amounts of data quickly and easily into the software. This way it is easy to integrate existing systems with FlexAir®, reusing older components, and thereby saving money.

  • Complete business/housing association system

FlexAir® is the ideal solution for many users. The system can easily combine access control, intercom systems and much more to form a complete system. Whether it is for businesses, housing associations, institutions or others, FlexAir® offers start-to-finish solutions, which with its flexibility solves all individual needs. FlexAir® easily replaces the traditional mechanical key systems and offers innovative features such as facility booking, guest administration, video surveillance, integration of IP cameras, display door stations, elevator control, alarm and parking systems and much more.

Secure solution

FlexAir®’s system is an extremely secure system. All components are thoroughly tested by experts and is of the highest quality on the market.
The entire system is designed to provide users with the highest level of security. To mention some of the safety aspects, these are highlighted; encrypted user tags, keypads, cameras and vandal proof locks. In addition, the software provides access to a complete overview via an event log that provides useful information about the “who, what, when and where”.
Prima’s FlexAir® system provides security on many levels and is a future-proof solution for both users and administrators.

  • Warranty

Prima’s access control system comes with a two-year replacement warranty on defective products. Furthermore, Prima’s warranty ensures spare parts or equivalent products are available ten years after purchase. This helps strengthen the future perspective of the system, which is based on innovation and constant development to meet all types of user and administration needs.

  • High security on cards and tokens

Prima’s access tags and cards are protected against copying, as a sector of the tags and cards data is locked. We offer tags with either MIFARE or PROX technology. MIFARE is also available in the extended version called ‘DESfire EV2’ that is developed to increase security, expand memory, increase the reading speed and support the Advanced Encryption Standard 128-bit AES.

It is easy to control the period of validation or to block it through the software if a tag/card is lost. This makes it possible to ensure that no one has access to stolen or lost tags, which provides increased security for residents, employees and owners of buildings. Safety is thus much higher than on a traditional mechanical door.

  • Backup on all centrals

All centrals contain a full backup of the system, and the centrals automatically exchanges data with one another. Therefore, it is easy to replace a central with a new one as it automatically receives all necessary information from the other centrals in the system. Once the system includes at least two centrals, you do not have to make a separate backup and can in case of a breakdown or malfunction quickly recover data and functions.

  • Email and SMS warning

In the event of system deviation or failure, the administrator can be set up to receive an email or an SMS with a description of the problem, hardware failure for instance. This way the error can be repaired quickly and efficiently, even before the end-users notice that something is not functioning optimally. In addition, the system can be set up to transmit information-mails with snapshots from an IP camera, when predefined events are happening in the system. This means that the system itself sends out warnings and information directly to the appropriate people.

Economic solution

The economy plays a major role in most operating systems, and therefore the focus is on keeping costs down in all areas of FlexAir® concept. FlexAir® is web-based and based on an open platform, so it is only a matter of software, if you want to adjust, extend or upgrade the system – the same goes for the hardware. PRIMA is doing groundbreaking solutions that do not become obsolete.

  • Complete locking system

Because FlexAir® is 100% web based, you are saving the expensive cost of a server in common installations and a fixed system PC. In addition, you avoid expensive installations and cables at a FlexAir® system with off-line components because there is no requirement for cabling all the doors in the system. It can give installation savings of up to 50% of the entire installation while all the maintenance costs of a traditional mechanical locking system also is avoided.

FlexAir® is additionally safe for the environment because both energy and environmental issues are integrated into the FlexAir® from the start. First of all readers are equipped with Energy Saving Technology (EST ®) and a sleep function, which leads to lower power consumption. Second, the limited amount of electronic waste, because FlexAir® upgrades with new firmware and software without replacing the hardware. The entire system can thus be updated from a distance through the access panel to the central network, which means that one does not have to go to all the centrals in the system, which may be located far apart.

  • Lost keys for by i.e. vacating

FlexAir® provides no security risk when moving out or lost tokens / cards, as the software makes it easy to block, delete and create new ones. This would minimize the costs associated with vacating or lost tokens / cards, which can be substantial items in areas with many users.

  • Future customers needs and wants are fulfulled

FlexAir® is the ideal solution for projects because the system is so flexible and versatile. Therefore, one can play with all the ideas and not feel confined in the project development, while you can always change needs or wants later on. FlexAir® is constantly evolving, which means that new approaches, modules, functions etc. is created regularly based on costumer demands, market trends and innovations / ideas from the development team. The constant focus on innovation supports all project phases as well as the versatile future-proof aspect; that future customer needs and wants are fulfilled.

  • Software upgrade - no new hardware

FlexAir® system can easily be adapted to specific needs by upgrading firmware and software. Therefore replacing hardware rarely needed, providing great savings and protects the environment at the same time. FlexAir® extended to new needs by adding more components or acquisitions of major software version. System Upgrade is therefore primarily a question of firmware and software, saving both time and keeps costs down. It makes FlexAir® one of the most economical systems without compromising security, functionality and usability.

Userfriendly software

The Nova software plays a central role in the FlexAir® concept and is designed with the user in mind. The open platform system and the software behind it are built on the principle of always following the technological development and satisfy all user needs. Therefore, the software is web-based and very intuitive, giving the user the most optimal conditions for using the system anywhere and as easily as possible. The software is installed directly on the central, and the web browser is therefore the only thing needed to log in to the system. To match different individual needs and desires, the software is available in different versions, which easily can be upgraded with a new Nova software package.

  • 100% browser based

FlexAir® is entirely browser-based, which allows you to log in to the system from any computer, tablet or smartphone. An expensive server and a fixed PC is avoided because of the web-based functionality and the system automatic back-up data on the centrals. This means that there is constant availability, and it ensures high reliability and minimal cost while the risk of failure is minimized. The system is based on the philosophy that it must be totally independent of Microsoft, Google, Apple and so on. Therefore, the entire system can be seen as one’s own always available private cloud.

  • User-friendly software and individual user management

The Nova software is intuitive and easy to use because it is designed with the user in focus. The logical icons, search functions and useful shortcuts help users around the system with an English user interface, where the user can change personal information such as password at any time. The system administrator can structure the layout of the system, i.e. locations, doors and components can be named freely and grouped to fit exactly to the customer’s needs.

  • Event log

In the access control system an event log is kept so that it is visible who has used which door and when. The administrator can always get the full picture of all system events – also lost or misused cards. The spacious event log can show 1 million events and can be printed as a report in PDF format. The overview of the ‘who, what, where and when’ provides enhanced security and surveillance options, which is not available on a traditional mechanical doors.

  • Monitor

The monitor module supports loading of the building’s floor plan that can then be viewed directly in the system. It allows the user to have a clear overview of every room in the building and the attached readers, intercoms and any linked video monitors and IP cameras at all times. The icons of the components are added and moved easily around the floor plan in the interface.

  • The counting and Anti-passback feature

The counting function enables registration of people’s comings and goings so that the system registers how many people are present in the building and in the various rooms, as well as when they exit. This is especially useful in locations where many temporary access rights are required. This way you always have an overview of how many people are in the company buildings and related facilities.

Furthermore, Prima’s anti-passback function ensures that access can only be achieved on a tag or card one time. To access again the same tag or card must be used for exit. This mechanism prevents misuse of access rights and tag sharing between several people.

Parking wise, this feature is used to control the entrance and exit of vehicles. The function can be set up in different ways, depending on how the car park looks. With these features, a safe environment is created and a high level of security is provided for all parties involved.

  • Booking

Both administrators and users can use the booking module. This makes it possible to book everything from laundry and exercise rooms to conference rooms. The booking module may eventually be connected to Outlook, so booking is automatically inserted in your calendar or multiple calendars if there is a team booking. When creating a reservation in the booking module, it automatically creates access rights for each user to the readers in the correct time period predefined by the setup.

  • Diagnostics

The function module gives notifications of errors such as defective readers. These messages can be sent as SMS via the GSM gateway to selected individuals. This way problems are solved before the user even notices them. This is often used in fire communications devices in order to ensure that all components are working properly. The module is also advantageous in large access control systems in order to facilitate troubleshooting.

The newest technology

The technology behind Prima’s access control system is based on the newest development and on the philosophy that the system must be 100% web-based but independent of Microsoft, Google, Apple and so on. It also means that the system supports the latest HTML5 technology, and the Nova software can therefore be accessed from any device that can access the internet and have access to the network.

The Alpha central controls the system. The Alpha central is a computer with a web browser-based interface. This central is the brain of the access control system and makes it possible to activate built-in options such as Python scripting, expansion / function modules, XML integration, E-mail service, SSL certificates and https protocol and display control of intercom systems etc.

  • Open platform

FlexAir® is an open platform, which makes it possible to tailor the system to specific needs through the integration of hardware and software. Prima’s system can be combined with any third-party software via XML commands for instance, which allows for integration with existing solutions so components and equipment can be saved and reused.

  • Relations and MODBUS protocol

Prima’s access control system uses the RS485 MODBUS protocol, which is used to establish master and slave communication between electronic devices that can be connected via different networks. MODBUS is a completely open standard, which is freely available to everyone with no need of licenses or rights, and it is called a “de facto standard for integration of products from different manufacturers.” The RS485 MODBUS protocol ensures that FlexAir®’s communication between controllers and readers gives longer cable length, the ability to read and write cards as well as a variety of reader types.

  • Secure and encrypted communication

FlexAir® only uses secure, encrypted communications between all devices:

    HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure)
    SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 128 bit encryption

All of the above technologies establish an encrypted and secure connection between the sender and receiver, hereby preventing unauthorized persons to intercept sensitive data between sender and receiver. This applies both to the communication of the software but also the access tags and cards.

  • 3rd party integration

Prima’s system can be integrated with XML integration, which is a language that can be used to exchange information between computers. This means that you can use Excel as a transfer program, when you need to transfer large amounts of data such as establishing many users in a short time.

  • All requests can be fulfilled

It is possible to integrate the Python programming language within the FlexAir® system, adding the Python scripts directly to the system. Python is a platform independent programming language that allows individual customer solutions using scripts. With Python you can integrate all kinds of hardware that can be controlled by up to 10 outputs and inputs. This way one can create his own PLC (Programmable Logical Controller). In short – if we know your needs and specifications, everything can be programmed and thus fulfilled.

  • Installation freedom

The versatility of the FlexAir® access control system means that it is possible to connect the system e.g. via an RS485 BUS connection, LAN or Wi-Fi or a combination. Additionally you can select to make a PoE (power over ethernet) solution, where the switches are each connected via a TCP / IP connection to a PoE switch and is powered by PoE. Another option is to make a direct connection to a switch, i.e. that each key is connected directly to the switch. Furthermore, it can be connected to a traditional PC-connection, where the panel is connected to a desktop PC via an Ethernet cable.

  • Future proof concept

Prima’s access control system is one of the most forward-thinking concepts that is ready for future challenges, desires and needs. The system is, unlike many other solutions, not built on older technology and software, because we know that such solutions rapidly become obsolete. By contrast, the system is designed to keep up with technological developments and all the desires and requirements that will arise in the future.
